Rebecca has an MA Fine Art (Dist.) from Falmouth School of Art. She offers a wealth of practical experience teaching oil painting and mixed media and is committed to supporting you in developing your confidence, knowledge and skills. She is Co-Director of Heritage Courtyard Gallery and Studios

HCGS is a dedicated space comprising 9 artists' studios and a superb gallery and educational space situated in the heart of the beautiful cathedral city of Wells, Somerset.
This space is unique in the area and hosts regular exhibitions showcasing both established and up and coming contemporary artists from around the UK, as well as hosting classes, talks and art events throughout the year.

This is a fun, one session taster which will cover all the basic principles, tools and techniques to enable you to experiment and gain confidence with this classic and beautiful medium.
You will learn traditional methods and learn the importance of tonal values, contrast and a limited palette.
(Materials supplied but if you have oil paints or oil brushes, please bring them. You will receive an information sheet before the day).

Learn to respond directly to a still life in the studio or a photo landscape through drawing, collage and oil painting. Explore shape, composition, materials, tone and colour. Through a series of exercises, develop confidence in stripping away the superfluous to capture the essence.
